World Water Forum: Indonesia seeks Chinese investment for new capital's water management projects

    時(shí)間:2024-05-25來源:

Indonesia has invited China to invest in water management and development projects. This collaboration aims to address critical needs such as waste recycling and the building of new reservoirs, strengthening sustainable development in Indonesia. CGTN's Silkina Ahluwalia reports from Bali.

At the 10th World Water Forum in Bali, Indonesia is actively seeking investments for the development of its new capital, Nusantara. The country officially invited China to invest in sustainable water management projects across the nation. This partnership aims to enhance waste recycling technology and the construction of new reservoirs.

HU YUQIANG President, Beifang Investigation Design Research Company "Our cooperation covers hydro power, water conservation and flood mitigation. We signed the cooperation in water resources field and we hope this will contribute to Indonesian society, developing the country, which will bring more good things for Indonesia."

Currently, China has already constructed a few water dams in the outskirts of the country in smaller villages that need clean water. These projects are part of Indonesia's broader strategy to continue to improve water infrastructure with China's assistance.

LOIC FAUCHON President, World Water Council "Between China and World Water Council, it's a long love story. We have been working together for more than 25 years very concretely. And every year we discuss programs. We work mainly on the basis of our challenge, water security because when you are able to achieve water security, you have done the best and the rest is to come."

The cooperation between China and Indonesia began more than 20 years ago with an agreement to build bridges, roads, and other technical infrastructure projects. But today, this collaboration has expanded to include water resources, waste management, and sanitation.

SILKINA AHLUWALIA Bali, Indonesia "As Indonesia continues to develop its new capital and enhance its infrastructure, the collaboration with China promises to bring significant advancements in technology, sustainability, and economic growth. Silkina Ahluwalia, CGTN, Bali."
